      <image:title>My Approach</image:title>
<image:caption>My Approach The Sleep Sociologist Method Each night, your child's sleep data comes straight to me. Every day, the plan adjusts to what actually happened, not what a generic timeline predicted. Daily consults, six days a week, for up to four weeks, with your child (over 6 months) consistently sleeping through the night. Sleep is rarely just about sleep. If your baby or child is waking often, resisting bedtime, feeding through the night, or only settling one very specific way, there is usually more going on than a “sleep problem”. My approach looks at the full picture so we can make sense of what is happening and change it in a way that is realistic, responsive and sustainable. A whole-picture lens I work from the understanding that children’s sleep is shaped by far more than age and routines. Biology matters. Temperament matters. Feeding matters. So do development, family dynamics, maternal mental load, capacity, support, and the pressure modern parents are under every single day. I look at the patterns, the context, and the practical realities of your family life. Then we focus on the adjustments that will actually get you lasting change. What support may involve Depending on your child and your circumstances, support may include: Understanding what is driving your child’s sleep disruption Looking at feeding, hunger, and night waking patterns Reviewing naps, bedtime, and daily rhythm Working with your child’s temperament and regulation needs Reducing battles around settling, cot transfers, or bedtime Making sense of early rising, split nights, or frequent wakes Supporting a responsive approach with clearer boundaries Helping both parents feel more aligned and confident Creating a solution that fits real family life What this work can help you achieve For babies over 6 months, the goal is sleeping through the night, smoother more consistent naps, and a sense of reconnection with yourself, your baby, and your partner. More broadly, I help create calmer evenings, more predictable nights, less second-guessing, and a clearer understanding of what your child needs. I give you ongoing practical support, realistic strategies, and a flexible plan that evolves and responds to your child’s needs as we work together. The Truth Modern parenting asks families to do an extraordinary job with very little support. Parents are expected to raise children responsively, function on broken sleep, absorb endless advice, and somehow stay calm, informed, and productive through it all. No wonder sleep can feel so overwhelming. No wonder everything can start to feel harder. A better way forward You do not need more noise, more guilt, or another rigid method that ignores your baby, your values, or your life. You need clear thinking, honest guidance, and an approach that respects both the science and the reality of raising small children.</image:caption>

      <image:title>FAQs</image:title>
<image:caption>FAQs If you’re wondering whether sleep support is right for your family, this page answers the questions many parents ask before getting in touch. It will help you understand how support works, what makes this approach different, and whether it feels like the right fit for your child, your values, and the realities of everyday life. What ages do you support? I support families with babies and young children from around 6 months to 5 years. Most of the families I work with have babies between 6 and 12 months, but I also help toddlers and pre-school children with sleep challenges. What does evidence-informed mean? Evidence-informed means my work is guided by current sleep science, child development research, and practical experience. It also means I apply that knowledge thoughtfully to your individual child and family, rather than using a generic method or rigid rules. How is your approach different from traditional sleep training? Traditional sleep training often focuses narrowly on routines, rigid schedules, and behaviour change. My approach looks at the wider picture too: your child’s temperament, feeding, development, family dynamics, your values and parenting style, your workload, formal and informal support systems, and what daily life actually looks like. Sleep does not happen in isolation, so support should not either. That sociological lens matters because families are not all working with the same conditions. Some parents are returning to paid work, carrying the mental load at home, managing sleep deprivation without a village, or trying to parent in ways that feel responsive and aligned with their values while also functioning in modern life. These realities shape sleep, and they need to be part of the conversation. Rather than applying a rigid formula, I use evidence-informed guidance to understand what is happening in your home, what your child needs, and what is realistic and sustainable for your family. That means looking not just at nights and naps, but at the pressures, patterns, relationships, and rhythms surrounding them. For some families, that might mean working through overtiredness, feeding patterns, and sleep associations. For others, it might involve reducing tension between caregivers, creating more consistency across the home, or helping parents feel less overwhelmed and more confident in the approach they are taking. The goal is not simply to change behaviour at night. It is to create better sleep in a way that protects connection, fits real family life, and leads to long-term, sustainable improvement. Do you use cry it out? No. I do not use cry it out approaches. If you want support that feels gentle, responsive, and grounded in your relationship with your child, that is exactly what I offer. What kinds of sleep challenges can you help with? I help with a wide range of sleep issues, including: Frequent night waking Bedtime battles Short naps Feeding or rocking to sleep Early waking Split nights Nap transitions Contact nap dependence Dummy reliance Difficulties moving from co-sleeping or room-sharing to a new sleep arrangement If sleep feels difficult, fragmented, or unsustainable, we can look at what is driving it and what may help. Is this support personalised to my child? Yes. There are no one-size-fits-all plans here. Support is tailored to your child’s age, temperament, development, sleep patterns, and your family’s preferences, capacity, and values. Because sleep does not happen in isolation, our approach evolves as we work together. I adjust guidance day by day in response to your child’s progress, your family’s capacity, and what is realistically workable in everyday life. The goal is support that feels considered, effective, and sustainable for both your child and your family. How long does support last? This depends on the level of support you choose and the complexity of the sleep situation. Some families need a clear plan and a short period of guidance. Others benefit from longer support as they make changes and respond to their child’s progress. Do you offer overnight support or only guidance? I offer ongoing guidance and support over several weeks, rather than hands-on overnight care. My role is to help you understand what is happening, create a plan that fits your family, and support you as you put it into practice. That longer period of support allows us to create sustainable change, rather than aiming for a quick fix, and gives us time to work through the real-life disruptions that affect sleep, such as teething, illness, developmental leaps, or increased mobility. The goal is not just improvement in the moment, but lasting change and the confidence to navigate future challenges on your own. Can you help with naps as well as night sleep? Yes. Day sleep and night sleep are closely connected, so I support families with both. If naps are short, inconsistent, fully contact-based, or difficult to manage alongside daily life, we can work on that too. Can you help with feeding-to-sleep, dummy reliance, contact naps, or frequent wakes? Yes. These are some of the most common reasons families get in touch. These patterns are not signs that you have done anything wrong. We look at why they are happening, whether they are still working for your family, and how to make changes in a manageable, responsive way if needed. What if I want a gentle approach? A gentle approach is at the heart of this work. That means practical, responsive support without shame, pressure, or unrealistic expectations. We make changes in a way that feels manageable and aligned with your parenting values. What if my child has a strong temperament or nothing else has worked? Many parents come to me after trying advice that did not fit their child or family. A child with a strong temperament often needs a more thoughtful, flexible approach rather than a stricter one. If nothing else has worked, that does not mean sleep cannot improve. It usually means the previous advice did not take the whole picture into account. Do both parents need to be involved? Not necessarily. It can be helpful if both parents or caregivers understand the plan and feel broadly aligned, but one parent can absolutely take the lead. I work with the family set-up you actually have, not an idealised version. Is this right for families who are overwhelmed or returning to work? Yes. In fact, many families seek support at exactly this point. If you are exhausted, stretched thin, returning to work, or trying to balance sleep with childcare, feeding, and everyday responsibilities, support should reduce pressure rather than add to it. Any plan we create needs to work in real life, not just on paper. Will I be judged for how we currently do things? No. There is no judgement here. Parenting a tired baby or young child can be intense, and many sleep habits develop because they work in the short term or because they are the only realistic option at the time. My role is not to criticise, but to help you understand what is happening and what you can do next. How do I get started? The first step is to book a complimentary chat with me. We can talk through your child’s sleep, what is feeling hard, and whether this support is the right fit for your family. If you’re ready for calm, practical, evidence-informed sleep support that considers the whole family, book a complimentary call to get started.</image:caption>
